Day 41
2 pounds 7.5 ounces
Ryan had a pretty good day. He finally got rid of the bili lights yesterday. Now we can see his precious little face again. He and I did Kangaroo Care. He did great. He still had several of his episodes. Last evening we did see one episode that was a bit scary. His O2 dropped into the teens and his heart rate dropped into the 80s. However, most of his episodes were his "normal". He is getting better at self-recovering from his episodes, and the nurses and RTs say that is a good thing. Last evenings episode may have been related to a lot of extra noise and activity in the NICU as they had 24-weeker twins admitted and everything was a bit chaotic. Last night the nurse was planning to put him in an isolette. Everyone is hoping that the enclosed environment of the isolette will block out a lot of the noise in the NICU. Ryan is so tempermental with everything and extra noises overstimulate him pretty quickly. We are excited about the move. We were kind of surprised that he was being moved to an isolette so soon. The nurse said that he could have been moved into an isolette a month ago, but they only have a few isolettes as specialized as the one he is going into.
