Day 42
6 weeks old!
30 weeks gestation
2 pounds 9 ounces--He's gained over 1 pound since birth!
Ryan had another pretty good day. Perhaps we are starting to see a trend of more good days and less bad days. Nothing has really changed other than he is in the isolette. (I posted pictures of his new home yesterday). They are trying to wean him from his IV fluids. His TPN is at a rate of 2.4 ml/hr. The doctor said he would try to have him weaned within a few days. Ryan is receiving 15ml of breastmilk every 3 hours. He is digesting it well, and the doctor told us that was a good sign. Ryan is still having episodes, but the doctor also said that his episodes seem to be decreasing in number. His ventilator is still at a rate of 40, pressure of 22, and oxygen 45-60%. He is receiving Phenobarb, Fentanyl and Versed for sedation. He is also receiving Cefotaxime, an antibiotic, to clear up the infection in his lungs. His breathing treatments are albuterol and Pulmacort. He has an attitude and the nurses say that it is a good thing. He is a fighter. They are saying we are going to have our hands full when we bring him home. He is extremely cute and very precious.
