Day 37
1050 grams! (2 pounds 5 ounces)
I think I can actually say that Ryan had a good day yesterday. He still had a few episodes throughout the day, but instead of a list of 15-20 episodes he only had about 10 or so on his list. He rested comfortably yesterday. He digested 11.5 ml of milk every 3 hours. He had a good blood gas, and he tolerated a change in his ventilator rate to 40. He still needed about 70% oxygen, and we are hoping that this number will begin to gradually go down, too. He had bloodwork to test his thyroid function, and it came back normal. He got a sponge bath last evening. They took off his O2 probe, and it remained off for at least 5 minutes. (This doesn't seem like a long time, but his oxygen can drop within a couple of seconds.) They gave him a bath, weighed him, changed his bedding, turned his head, moved his cardiac and respiratory probes that stick to his chest, and turned him onto his stomach, . After all this when they FINALLY put his oxygen probe back on he was still sattting 84%!! Yea baby boy!
I still haven't talked to the doctor about the phenobarb, but the nurse yesterday said that he was getting it for agitation.
