Yesterday was kind of a rough day. Ryan had a lot of his episodes. In the past his oxygen would drop down into to 70s most of the time and occasionally drop lower. Yesterday he dropped a lot lower a lot faster. He would be satting at 90% then drop down to 40 or 50 without any warning. Most of his episodes were like this. They went down on his ventilator rate to 42 from 45, but the went up on his pressure to 22. He has had a couple of chest x-rays over the past 2 days, but we haven't been able to ask the doctor about them. The nurse told us that the doctor wrote to keep Ryan's head turned to the left and she and the RT explained that sometimes a doctor will write an order like that because it helps point the ET (ventilator) tube toward the lung that looks worse on an x-ray. He is still receiving antibiotics for the infection that is currently in his lungs.
