34 days old!
2 pounds 1 ounce!!
Ryan didn't have a bad day yesterday, but it wasn't a great day either. He was very positional. He had many episodes, and quite a few of those his O2 dropped into the 40s and 50s. They had to go up on the ventilator rate from 35-45 and the pressure from 20-21. He generally needed 75-90% oxygen to keep his oxygen saturation in the acceptable range of 83-93%. He had the bad blood gas in the morning, another one at noon, and finally a good one at 6:00 p.m. The nurse did tell us that the fact that he is digesting his food and being fed breastmilk is greatly to his advantage. She said that these things will be of great help with him overcoming these chronic lung challenges. We are very thankful that he is digesting his food. He is being fed 10 ml every 3 hours. We are very thankful that he is growing and developing. We are also thankful that his only major issue is his lungs. We do look forward to the day when his lungs are more mature and we delight in the thought of the day when he no longer needs the ventilator and his episodes are a thing of the past.
