Day 44
2 pounds 6 ounces
Ryan had a pretty good day yesterday. The nurse said she had not received a morning workout by running back and forth to his monitors. It's so good to hear and see that he is having less episodes. His ventilator was turned down to a rate of 35, and they did not need to increase his oxygen to compensate. His oxygen concentration has been running between 50-60%. He is still digesting his food well. He is receiving 16 ml every 3 hours. Yesterday was the first day in many that the doctor did not increase his feeding amounts.
Ryan had to go back on the bili blanket. His bilirubin is still too high for his age. This morning they will be doing a complete bilirubin blood work-up. They will be looking at 2 different numbers related to bilirubin. These numbers should tell them if Ryan has possible liver problems and is in need of more testing vs. a normal-high bilirubin level that will just take a little more time on the phototherapy lights.
Ryan will also be having another brain scan this morning to check for brain bleeds.
