Day 39
2 pounds 6.4 ounces

Yesterday was the day for lab work. Ryan's blood count was low, so he received blood (15ml). This has become a Wednesday tradition for him. His bilirubin level was still too high to come off the bili blanket, and it went up a little so they added the bili light. He had a good blood gas, so the ventilator rate was turned down to 45. He had a number of episodes. Some were just barely low enough to trigger the alarms; some were pretty low (40s-50s); some he recovered without help; others he needed a lot of assistance. He did pretty well with kangarooing, but not as great as the previous 2 or 3 days.

Ryan is being fed 13 ml every 3 hours. He is on Fentanyl, Versed, Phenobarb, Lasix (to pull fluid off his lungs), a bronchodilator, and an inhaled steroid. He receives TPN and lipids via IV.
