30 days old!

All things are about the same with Ryan. The ventilator is at a rate of 40 bpm, a pressure of 19, and the oxygen ranged yesterday from 65-75% (which is a little higher than it has been). He is getting Versed and Fentanyl alternately every 2 hours. He is being fed 8.5 ml of milk every 3 hours. He is still having regular episodes. His heart rate generally runs between 150-190 bpm. His blood pressure has been normal, as has his blood sugar level. He has been having good blood gases for a couple of days now. His eyes are blue and his hair is brown with a little bit of curl in it. His skin is getting thicker and less fragile. They sent a sample of sputum to culture for infection yesterday morning. Last night he got a bath and the nurse said he enjoyed it. I wish I could have been there to see that. He also got a new set of bedding because it got all wet.

P.M. update

The sample which was sent for cultures did grow something but it is not known yet what it is. Today he has had more de-saturation spells than ever before. He often falls into the 40 percent range and has to be helped with extra breaths and extra oxygen. Julie went prepared to hold him today but everyone told her "No," explaining that he is not stable enough to be held today. This is the first time she has been told no and it is a little scary.

Please remember Marcus and Staci, parents of little Kenzie Grace. She passed on Sunday.
