Ryan went to the Pediatrician today. He got a good report. Dr. Schrader was impressed with his head control and commented that he is well advanced beyond his corrected age (1 1/2 months) in this area. The Nurse Practioner said Ryan was very healthy and looked great. He got his 4 month immunizations. I would have to go look to see exactly what was given, but basically it amounted to 2 shots in one leg, one in another, and a whole lot of crying. Oh it was awful. I wanted to cry too. He has done fairly well since we've been home although a bit cranky, but I'd be cranky too. I've been giving him Tylenol, and we've been snuggling most of the day. I can tell he just doesn't feel all that well. He is favoring his right leg a little. It's the one that got 2 shots. It has to be sore.
Things went okay with the nurse today. I had to be a little assertive today in a parental right issue. I refused to allow her to take his temperature rectally. Of course I know that a rectal temperature is one of the most accurate measurements, but there are plenty of other ways to get a temperature that is pretty close to accurate. Anyway...she wasn't all that happy about my request. She said she'd have to talk to the doctor about it, and then she didn't even try to get his temperature any other way. The issue never came up with the doctor. Oh well....
Ryan weighs 8 pounds 4 ounces (with diaper).
