Day 51
2 pounds 8 ounces
Exciting times! So many things happened yesterday. His ventilator rate was turned down to 17. His feedings were increased to 21ml/3hr. The PICC line (IV directly to his heart) was removed. His peripheral IV was removed. He no longer receives anything regularly through IV. He was taken off the Fentanyl and Versed. They changed his sedation medications to Chloral Hydrate which he receives every 8 hours on an "as needed" basis. His phenobarb and chloral hydrate are now given orally through his NG tube (tube through his nose into his stomach). The only things hooked up to our little boy is the ventilator, feeding tube (NG), the monitor leads that monitor his heart rate and breathing, and the pulse ox measuring his oxygen saturation. Yea baby boy!
