Day 38

When we got to the hospital yesterday the RT said that Ryan had been having a "rough day". He had a lot of episodes. During many of them his oxygen dropped into the 40s, 50s, occasionally lower. The charge nurse said that many of the babies had a rough night the night before, so there wasn't any one thing that caused Ryan to have a rough night and bad morning blood gas yesterday. A friend of ours who had a preemie in the NICU several years ago told us that she learned that changes in barometric pressure can cause lung problems in the NICU as well as for preemies who've graduated out of the NICU. Perhaps Ryan's rough night and difficult day was because of this.
