Day 63
9 weeks old!
2 pounds 14 ounces

Ryan had a good day yesterday. Daddy held his little boy yesterday for a couple of hours. Ryan did great! We were able to put clothes on Ryan for the first time. We took some pictures of him in his very first outfit. (A good friend of ours found an outfit for babies weighing 2-4 pounds. It still swallows him, but it is so cute.) We even got a family picture! We gave Ryan a bath last night. He did well. He looked at us with such intensity. His big dark eyes can make our hearts melt. Just ask his Grandma!

Ryan is now being fed 24 ml of breastmilk every 3 hours through his NG tube (tube through his nose into his stomach). We haven't heard when they might start offering him a bottle. He does however suck on his pacifier. He seems interested in sucking on his pacifier a little more with each day that passes since coming off the ventilator. He is so cute when he sucks on his pacifier, and at times he seems to really like it. We might want to start ordering a supply of pacifiers now. His sister was given a Soothie pacifier when she was in the NICU. It was the only nipple she would allow near her mouth for the most part. This was before they were available to buy from retail stores. We ordered them off the internet. Now the NICU has changed to the GumDrop pacifier. I'm just glad there is a way for us to order more. If you are interested in learning more about the GumDrop pacifiers you can view them on www.hawaiimedical.com.

Today they were going to do a bilirubin level and a blood gas. We will find out if he has to go back under the blue lights today.
